AHF TOWN HALL: The Staffing & Labor Crisis

The foodservice industry is in the grips of a staffing and labor crisis. Employees are hard to come by, competition for existing employees is fierce, and operators are stretched thin. It's time to bring our community together to discuss our challenges and share our solutions. Moderated by Neal Lavender, JPS Health and Chair of AHF's Education Committee, this will be a chance to see what challenges are being faced, what others are doing to attract and retain employees, and how to keep operations running smoothly.

  1. Understanding of the supply chain issues and delays as a result of staffing, labor, and production and how best to manage potential supply issues and vendors relationships.

MEET THE SPEAKERS:

Neal Lavender
JPS Health Network 
Neal Lavender has spent twenty-six years helping hospitals, as well as individuals, make the connection between value-driven practices and bottom-line results. He has been a leader at some of the most highly recognized foodservice departments in the world including University of Texas Medical Branch, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, Medical University of South Carolina, Louisiana State University Hospital of New Orleans, Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City, and Florida Hospital of Orlando. Neal is currently the Executive Director of Food and Nutrition Services for JPS Health Network. Neal earned his Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from East Carolina University and a Master of Science in Health Services Administration from Central Michigan University. Neal has been a longtime advocate of supporting others in the foodservice industry as a leading the way as a trendsetter.

Bill Hancock 
US Foods
Bill Hancock is Executive Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer. In this role, he is responsible for all warehousing, transportation, and supply chain strategy and operations, as well as safety, labor relations and continuous improvement. Bill has an M.B.A from St. Cloud State University and a B.A. in Marketing and Supple Chain Management from the St. Cloud State University – Herberger Business School.
