MEET THE SPEAKERS:

Erin Copley-Johnson, MS, RD, CD
Multicare Health System

Erin serves as the System Director of Nutrition Services for 11 self-operated hospital-based programs that includes clinical nutrition, patient meal service, cafeterias, coffee shops, vending, and self-service markets. In 2005, Erin joined Multicare Health System (MHS) in Washington State as an inpatient dietitian specializing in nutrition support for oncology and GI patients. At the time, the organization was a Tacoma-centric hospital-based organization. Over the last 18 years Erin has expanded her expertise in food and nutrition as the organization has grown into the largest, not-for-pro􀋡t, community-based, locally owned health system in Washington State. In late 2020, Erin transitioned from Clinical Nutrition Manager to System Director to lead transitioning from a contracted system leadership team, back to self-operated. Erin is a Certified Crucial Conversations Facilitator and is a current council member for the Vizient Food Council.


Nate Batway
Multicare Health System

Nate is the Executive Chef for Multicare Health System. Nate has spent his career as a chef beginning as a dishwasher when he was 15 years old. Nate earned his Certificate in Culinary arts from South Seattle Culinary Arts Program after high school and went on to work as cook until he was 23 when he began his first management position. Over the last 23 years Nate has honed his skills as a chef with restaurants, hospitals, hotels, and other business food service accounts. Nate loves to be creative and to apply that creativity to solve the daily challenges of food service. Whether it be solving budgetary issues, scheduling, creating new dishes, or training staff he loves the collaboration and coordination of a team to create something better than any single person could single handedly. “A great chef is only great because of the efforts and dedication of their team.”


Janice Perez, RD
Multicare Health System

Janice is a System Specialist for Multicare Nutrition Services, maintaining meal service software, point of sale systems, and financial reporting. She has been with Multicare for 19 years. She loves what she does supporting leaders and staff behind the scenes through education and program maintenance.
